Chris Radford

Chris Radford - Director

Chris is the owner of RAD, starting from humble begins in the backyard garage, following a vision and now the leading providers of Strength and Conditioning across Western Victoria. Chris completed his Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science - Honours in Ballarat. He has a wide variety of experience including time with the Western Bulldogs in both the AFL and VFL programs, Netball Victoria, North Ballarat Roosters, GWV Rebels and Volleyball Victoria. It has been super exciting to see the growth of RAD as we continue to help regional athletes maximise their potential, but also provide a workplace for local professionals to apply their skills. His wife Jess, daughter Elsie and dog Jimmy are also key members of the team. Level 2 Professional ASCA S&C Coach.

Tim Welsh - Strength & Conditioning Coach

Tim moved from Warrnambool to Ballarat to complete a Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science which he followed up with a Masters of Strength and Conditioning. Tim has experience with a range of sports, spending time with the Melbourne Storm of the NRL, the Victorian Men’s Cricket Team, Ballarat City FC soccer, and currently the GWV Rebels as their High Performance Manager. Tim loves to coach and is very particular in doing so, ensuring each athlete gets the most out of their time with RAD. Level 2 ASCA S&C Coach

Steph Mundy - Strength & Conditioning Coach

Steph has completed a Bachelor’s in Exercise and Sports Science and a Masters in Strength and Conditioning. A Level 2 ASCA accredited coach, Level 2 Athletics Coach and an accredited Pilates Instructor. Steph has spent time working with the Victorian Institute of Sport, Liberty University in the USA, and various other organisations. Steph enjoys working with all levels of athletes from all sporting backgrounds. Outside of coaching she enjoys participating/competing in athletics.

Paula Grylewicz - Physiotherapist

Paula has 18 years experience as a Physiotherapist in Ballarat. She is the Physiotherapist for the Australian U/23 mens wheelchair Basketball team and has been the Physiotherapist for the Ballarat Rush and Miners Basketball programs for several years. Paula has also been involved with junior athletes from Victorian State Basketball, Netball, Football and Gymnastics teams as well as elite junior runners. Paula has vast experience in diagnosing and treating a wide variety of sporting injuries in all age groups. Her passion is getting people back on the court or field as soon as possible. She will focus on what your body can do, not what it can’t. She also has a degree in Exercise and Sports Science.

Shane Pongho

Shane Pongho - Physiotherapist & Rehab Coach

Shane is approaching 10 years as a Physiotherapist since graduating from Latrobe University with a Masters of Physiotherapy Practice in 2012. Shane is a Level 1 ASCA S&C Coach. Shane has a particular interest in hamstring strain injuries, lower limb rehabilitation and return to sport. Shane has worked with the Ballarat Football and Netball Club since 2016. During this time he has provided Physiotherapy services including injury rehabilitation and injury prevention strategies across junior and senior netball, football and women’s football programs. Shane enjoys taking athletes from the treatment table to the gym-floor and beyond - including field-based rehabilitation and return to sport programming.

Ballarat Dietitian

Michelle Ryan - Accredited Sports Dietitian

Michelle is an Accredited Practising Dietitian and Accredited Sports Dietitian, registered with Dietitians Australia and Sports Dietitians Australia. Beyond her degree in Nutrition and Dietetics, Michelle also has additional training and qualifications in the areas of sports nutrition and paediatric nutrition. She has over 10 years experience working as a dietitian in both the public and private health sector in Ballarat. Michelle has lectured in nutrition at Federation University, and is the consultant sports dietitian to the Westvic Academy of Sport. Michelle loves working with individuals, teams and their support networks to help develop nutrition skills and strategies to assist in achieving performance, rehab, or wellbeing goals.

Liam Towell - Strength & Conditioning Coach

Liam started working at RAD in 2017 after completing his B. Exercise and Sport Science (Honours). Liam has over 5 years club experience as a Strength and Conditioning Coach, working with teams such as the North Ballarat Roosters (VFL), Greater Western Victorian Rebels (NAB League) and Ballarat City Soccer Club (NPL). Along with undergraduate studies, Liam is also a registered Level 2 ASCA Coach. Liam is also a qualified HAPE Teacher and has strong interests in long-term athletic development.

Billy Jones - Strength & Conditioning Coach

Billy has completed a Bachelor’s of Exercise & Sport Science and is currently completing a Masters of Strength & Conditioning. Billy started with us as a placement student in 2019 and following completion was offered a role on the team. Currently he is completing his major placement with the Geelong Cats AFLW squad as the team’s assistant strength and conditioning coach. He has a strong interest in helping athletes from all codes and disciplines reach their goals in the gym and competition. Level 1 ASCA S&C Coach.

Sarah Perkins - Strength & Conditioning Coach

Sarah is currently completing her Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science, Which will then lead into Masters of Strength and Conditioning. Sarah started her major placement with RAD in 2020 and has enjoyed learning and growing as a coach. Sarah has a strong interest in optimising movement and training for performance across all athletes. Outside of coaching she is still performing apart of a contemporary dance company based in Melbourne.

Jordy Taylor - Strength & Conditioning Coach

Jordy has recently completed his Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science where in his final year of study completed an internship at Syracuse University in America. Jordy also undertook his major placement at RAD in 2019 and through his hard work has since been rewarded with a coaching position on the team. Jordy has got a strong interest in helping young athletes grow and develop their physical capabilities. Level 1 ASCA S&C Coach
